There's no such thing as a free lunch... Or is there?
/Is there such a thing as a free lunch? The literal free lunch was born somewhere in 19th-century in the U.S where saloons would serve up salty food free!
The genius is in the marketing, knowing that you would get thirsty everyone partaking in the free lunch would ultimately end up spending more money on beer, and as we all know one leads to another and before you know it; you wake up regretting how much you have spent the night before. With your foggy memory unable to pinpoint where it all went wrong…the free lunch.
If it’s a literal free lunch that you wanted, I won’t disappoint, let me break it down, want chicken? KFC have an app, download and collect 2 free chicken wings. Want one of the best milkshakes around? If you live near an ‘Ed’s Diner’ you can pick one up on your birthday completely free! (sign up with your birthday the same day…duh)
I read an article a few years ago about a man that bought a ticket for a flight that had a free buffet, so he ate there everyday and just kept changing the date of his flight. I doubt it’s legitimacy but the point still stands, there are always free deals and always will be.
One I just got today was an iced coffee from McDonald's, they too have an app where you can collect freebies regularly, and the Vodafone and o2 apps offer free food all the time.
In short, maybe you can get a free lunch, when I had that coffee I ended up paying £7.34. So it would seem that I had fallen for the age old marketing scam… or had I?
The above app is called Monese. Like I mentioned in my other blog about the Monzo card, this is another one. Not as good, but the bonus is that when you join, as long as you use a code (mine is Joshu752 best to click the link) you get £15 for free (so does the other person).
So let’s say you got both cards and activated them, you would have £20. Invite your partner or friend to do the same and they have £20. Plus you would earn another £20. That’s £60! So you could smash 10 meal deals each, get a Nandos or even a weeks shop.
Something I would suggest is; this could be used as starting cash for a Facebook ad or some supplies for a new business. By all means use this free money on whatever you like but why not try and make more.
You have to spend money to make money
So just before you blow it on a “cheeky Nandos” check out some gigs on Fiverr. It’s a site where you can get loads for a business, new logo, business cards, SEO help, backlinks and so much more. Food for thought.
Monzo this one gets you £5
Monese this one gets you £15
Bonus: If you’re in Northampton on a Sunday night, head to aspers casino and at 00:00 they open a free Chinese buffet. Tip: get there early as there are a lot of Chinese people that will be in line.
